QUESTIONS ON FUE-TECHNOLOGY

FUE is a seamless, painless method without scarring that does not affect daily life. With proper preparation and correct technique it leads to excellent results.

The FUE technique is seamless and leaves no stripey scars in the neck area. After the removal of the grafts, a rapid healing process takes place and there is no long lasting numbness. This method can be used to remove hair from other parts of the body. The transplanted hair is thick and looks real.

The whole treatment is considered a painless transplantation. Local anesthesia is used. Block anaesthesia is only applied at certain points and thus blocks the nervous system of the donor area. In local anaesthesia, the patient feels only a slight burning sensation. Furthermore, the patient feels no pain.

The duration depends on the number of implants. 2500 – 3000 grafts take 6 – 7 hours.

First, the hair in the donor area is shortened to a length of 1 mm. The hair follicles are removed with a small special surgical device with needle (diameter 0.6 – 0.7 mm), the micromotor. (Smaller needles could damage the hair follicles. The removed follicles are separated and counted. In the implantation area, canals are opened according to the natural hair direction and the removed follicles are inserted.

The hair and follicles must not be damaged during removal. The follicles must be kept under special conditions until they are inserted. One has to pay attention to the direction of the implant. After implantation it is necessary to follow the doctor’s instructions.

In normal hair density per cm² 50- 70 follicle units. Each unit consists of 1-4 hair roots. In order to avoid bare patches in the graft extraction area, only 25% of the follicles are removed. In order to delimit the hairline, 70 follicle units per cm² are placed, in the other area 35-50 double follicle units per cm². Depending on the thickness of the hair, it is sometimes necessary to use up to 65 follicle units. In larger areas, the number of graft per cm² can also decrease.

An experienced team can use up to 5000 grafts (approx. 10-12000 hairs) in one session, depending on the hair density in the donor area (neck).

After professional implantation, even after 2-3 sessions and a hair length of 4-5 cm in the neck, there is no noticeable hair loss. This results in a uniform hair density.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Theoretically, yes, the transplant would grow in without any problems since it comes from the patient’s own body. You should seek comprehensive advice here. Body hair is of a different texture than head hair (different growth, different structure, etc.). The distances between the individual hairs are also very large for body hair, one would have to harvest very large skin areas for a few roots.
It has been scientifically proven that the hair roots transfer their composition to the new “location”. This means that the transposed roots will show lifelong hair growth. The estimation of the “safe” collection area (and thus the certainty that only hair roots that are permanently spared from hair loss are really used) belongs to the hands of an experienced and serious specialist who deals exclusively or at least predominantly with hair transplantation.

Hair implantation is the insertion of artificial hair, usually made of medical suture material, which is very closest to your own hair.

Transplantation can be performed at the age of 20 to 70 years. A good general condition is a prerequisite. In young patients, the transplantation must be well prepared and an effective additional therapy must be carried out to preserve the hair. In addition, an experienced surgeon should plan for the future and handle the donor area responsibly so that it can be refilled in the future.

Age, size of bald spot, hair density in the donar area (back of head, sides).

The anterior hairline must be delimited and the hair density must be state-of-the-art. The original hair angle and the direction of the hair must be maintained. To achieve a natural appearance, the hair angle for the implant must be 35 – 40 degrees.

In the case of total hair loss in the head area or very thin hairy areas, implants can be implanted. Thin hair is when the density of the hair – in contrast to normal hair with a density of approx. 100 microns – drops to 20 – 25 microns. The number of sessions depends on the Hamilton scale: For men 6 phases (A-F), phase A-B-C = one session; phase D-E-F = two sessions.

Pauses can be made. The patient can even read or watch TV.

POST-OP QUESTIONS

In hereditary hair loss, the roots in some parts of the head stop functioning over the years. However, the roots of the wreath are not affected. However, since the information “atrophy” or “lifelong hair production” is individually anchored in each root and independent of the recipient, lifelong hair growth is ensured at the recipient site (provided the roots originate from the “safe” area of the hair wreath).

From a medical point of view, no “hair” is transplanted, but “hair root-bearing skin parts”. Since it is a natural tissue of the body, it is not repelled, but always accepted and by growing on it becomes a firm component of the skin. The risk of a transplant falling out or producing hair is extremely low if the precautions to be taken immediately after treatment are observed.

Crusts form in the donor and implantation area, which fall off after 8-9 days. There is no visible scarring.

For the first night, a narrow bandage is put on to protect the tapping point. You can remove it easily and independently the next day. We show the patient how to perform the daily washing procedure in the following 2 weeks. First of all, the treatment is carried out with a lotion which is allowed to work for 60 minutes. The hair is then washed with a special detergent. The patient is also advised of precautionary measures. Care products and written instructions are available from us.

The inserted hair falls out temporarily after 2-3 weeks. 40 – 70 % of the inserted hair falls out after 1 – 2 months.

They begin to grow 2 – 3 months after transplantation. After 6 – 10 months the desired success can be seen.

The inserted hair is permanent as it comes from the back of the head. These hairs do not have a tendency to break down and grow for the rest of their lives.
